PRODUCT: hand knitting pattern for Marcy Sweater.

INTRODUCTION

This sweater was inspired by Marceline, the Vampire Queen, from Adventure Time, solely because of the name of the yarn colorway from Fiona Kay Knits that I used to knit this design. Adventure Time has a special place in my heart because it is wholesome and pure in its weirdness. It reminds us it’s okay to be different and at the end of the day, we’re still all the same. The Marceline character is my favorite because of my elder emo self. The darkness is there to protect her until she finds a light worth growing and healing for. I can relate.

CONSTRUCTION: This sweater is a top down raglan construction in stockinette and eyelets.

SKILLS: knitting in the round, increases/decreases, picking up stitches, german short row method, eyelets.

NOTIONS: stitch markers, locking markers for seaming, stitch holder or waste yarn for holding stitches, tapestry needle/latch hook/crochet hook for ends, measuring tape, gauge ruler if needed

NEEDLES: Rib - US 6/4.0mm, Body - US 8/5.0mm, Or needle size to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: 1x1 Rib in the round in 4”/10 cm - 20 sts by 24 rows on rib needles

Stockinette in the round  in 4”/10 cm - 19.5 sts by 20 rows on body needles

YARN: DK weight

Sample knit with: Fiona Kay Knits, “Outlaw DK”, 100% Superwash Wool, 231 yds/100g/skein, Color: “Marceline”

Marcy Sweater is designed to be worn with 0-4” positive ease at UPPER CHEST. For people with breasts, upper chest circumference is measured above breasts.
